Original Release
Amalgamated Sugar Company and Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers Union Local leaders meet Tuesday in Boise to discuss a possible contract agreement in hopes of avoiding a strike.
All four local unions, representing workers in Nampa, Twin Falls, Paul, and Nyssa, Oregon, rejected last week's contract proposal from Amalgamated Sugar Company leadership, according to a union social media post.
The two sides have been negotiating since May for a new collective bargaining agreement.
The company's website says it employs 1,700 people, is the second largest beet producer, and produces 12% of the national sugar supply.
